Knafeh, The Pastry that Inspired An Entire Bakery
Middle Eastern pastry knafeh, which reigns over Ramadan, is so important that a shop was named after it. And, as the owner explains while pointing out to his wall of media write-ups, he is nationally known for it. Proof is in the fact that there are similar bakeries in Chicago and yet he still fills orders from the windy city daily.
Knafeh Cafe in Anaheim’s Little Arabia knafeh offers two styles, tender and crisp. The shredded kadaif dough, very popular in Greek Kaidifi pastry, holds a cream filling in this treat, then, dotted with pistachios and sweetened with syrup poured over just before you eat it. The knafeh circles on the wall serve as a menu when ordering for a party.
