(Gerry Furth-Sides, content and photos courtesy of Cafe Spice) Even if I was not about to answer the call someone  “craving restaurant-quality Indian, Mexican and Thai food at home,” Cafe Spice got my attention because of the company story.  Sameer Malhotra, CEO and Co-Founder of Cafe Spice, and his dad, Sushil. Sushil at one time supplied South Asian spices and chutneys to New York’s curry houses. And then Sushil went on to run such a fine Indian restaurant that it remained for fifteen years as the #1 rated Indian restaurant on Zagat.

Sameer chose Hari Nayak as Culinary Director for Café Spice.  Chef Nayak is one of the most sought after chefs in North America. The internationally acclaimed chef has developed authentic meals with bold flavors that can be heated up in just minutes.  He brings a new, modern outlook to Global cuisine without abandoning the authentic flavors, wonderful aromas, or rich culinary history. Cafe Spice takes pride in sourcing only the highest-quality whole ingredients, so your meals are fresh, clean and delicious.

Café Spice is the story of entrepreneurs who recognized that a new culture of casual dining was emerging in the 90s.  And they ran with it. The family launched Cafe Spice in New York City. Cafe Spice focused on fun and experimentation, rather than the more formal settings seen in typical Indian restaurants at the time. My father brought the essence of Indian flavors to America; and I want to continue bringing the richness of International cooking to your home.   And like almost all Indian businessmen, they added hard work to the mix and the dining place  was a phenomenal, award-winning success.

Intense, popular flavors abound in authentic, interesting Mexican dishes. Two that appeal to us include the Sweet Potato Burrito and the Sweet Potato Quesadilla. Sweet potatoes along with earthy, fresh roasted poblano peppers as a hearty base star in both. Then the chef added flavor-forward clean ingredients such as black beans, sweet corn and Cheddar & Monterey Jack cheese, and gently folded it all into an artisanal non-GMO flour tortilla or quesadilla. And they are:

  • Vegetarian
  • Non-GMO flour tortilla
  • All natural, clean ingredients
